Baseball: Five Saints named to academic team

May 6, 2008

Spokane, WA – A total of five Saint Martin’s student-athletes have been selected to the 2008 Great Northwest Athletic Conference Baseball Academic all-conference team.

Three players were repeat selections from last year’s team. Nick Bolthouse, a senior business major with a 3.62 grade point average, was selected for the third year in a row.

Tanner Gronowski and Shane Schoeneberg were selected for the second time. Gronowski is a senior biology major and carries a 3.68. Schoeneberg holds a 3.32 GPA as a senior majoring in criminal justice.

Also making it to the team are Mickey Letofsky and Kevin Jones. Letofsky, a senior computer science major, posts a 3.61 GPA while Jones, who is majoring in business administration, has a 3.34.

“I am very proud of these young men both on and off the field, especially on the academic side of things,” said head coach Joe Dominiak. “I know how hard it is for these student-athletes to do both school and athletics and I give them my utmost respect.”

All letter winners who are in at least their second year of competition at their university and have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.20 are eligible to be selected to the team.
