Cross Country Update

October 26, 2002

Seattle, WA- Injuries and illness cut short Saint Martin's effort as the Saints competed in the Great Northwest Conference cross country meet at Lincoln Park in Seattle.

The Saints finished ninth of 10 teams in the men's standings as Andy Prentice was 34th in the individual competition with a five-mile time of 26 minutes, 13 seconds. Nathan Carlson was 42nd at 26:29, and Chris Carpenter was 46th at 26:35.

The women fielded an incomplete team, but Julie Thielen finished 33rd at 6,000 meters in 23:42.  Ann McCanick was 42nd in 24:03, and Nicole Beatty was 61st in 25:10.

"It was a very average to below average day," Saint Martin's coach Brad Hooper said. "We head down to Fresno in two weeks, and hopefully we can rectify things."- the Olympian
