Cross Country: Riak wins UPS Open

Fort Steilacoom, WA (September 2) – John Riak led
the way for the Saints finishing first on the men’s side of the
University of Puget Sound Cross Country Invitational meet Friday at Fort
Steilacoom. The Saints split the dual meet defeating the University of
Alaska Fairbanks 21-34 and losing to the UPS Loggers 24-34.
Riak’s time of 26:46 was 15 seconds better then his
winning time in the same race last year. The Saints landed two other
runners in the top ten, Niwar Nasim and Robbie Wilbur who finished sixth
and seventh respectively.
On the women’s side the Saint’s fell to UPS by a
score of 20-36 and UAF 25-30. Jessie Dunnam led the Saints with a time
of 20:52, putting her fourth overall. Kaleigh Bishop finished eighth
with a time of 21:25.
The Saints will be back in action on September 6
when they take on Evergreen State College at Evergreen.
