Cross Country: Riak breaks course record at Evergreen

September 8, 2006

Olympia, WA (September 6) – John Riak scored his second win of the week at the Evergreen Dual Meet Wednesday. Riak smashed the course record that he set last year by ten seconds to run an exceptional 14:53. Saint Martin’s beat Evergreen 23-32 in the meet.

Also running their second solid meet of the week were Robbie Wilbur, Steven La Londe, and Niwar Nasim who finished fifth, sixth, and seventh respectively. Tristan Beach and Kevin Tober, who ran course best times, rounded out the men’s team.

The women also performed favorably. Jessie Dunnam led the Saint ladies finishing in second. Amy Layton had a great finishing kick to come in third. A great run by Taylor Shipman landed her in third, while Jessica Pendon, Krinda Carlson, Chelsi Claussen and Kaleigh Bishop also finished in the top ten.

The Saints will be back in action September 15th when they travel to Notre Dame to compete in the National Catholic Championships.
