Cross Country: Riak adds another win to his season

September 23, 2006

Lacey, WA – John Riak won his fourth race in four starts Saturday at the SMU Cross Country Invite. Riak finished with a time of 25:09, five seconds ahead of second place finisher David Kiplagat of Alaska Anchorage.

The men’s team finished fifth overall. Niwar Nasim finished 29th with a time of 27:47. Steven La Londe and Robbie Wilbur came in 31st and 33 with times of 27:57 and 28:07 respectively. Josh Gatbunton came in 39th in a time of 28:28.

On the women’s side, the Saints were led by Amy Layton who finished 18th with a time of 24:04 followed by Jessie Dunnam who finished the course in 24:25 to place 22nd. Kaleigh Bishop came in with a time of 25:14 while Taylor Shipman finished in 25:42 finishing 39th and 43rd respectively.

The race was held on the Saint Martin’s campus, the site for the GNAC Championship Meet on October 23rd.

The Saints next meet is Saturday, September 30th in Salem, OR as they compete in the Willamette Invite.
