Cross Country: Both men and women finish 23rd at Willamette Invite

Salem, OR – John Riak and Jessie Dunnam were the top
finishers for the Saints at the Willamette Invite Cardinal Race on
Saturday at Bush’s Pasture Park. Riak finished ninth for the men with a
time of 24:42 while Dunnam finished 70th in the women’s race with a time
of 19:26.
Concordia University took both the men’s and women’s
team titles. Aron Rono of Azusa Pacific University came in first in the
men’s race with a time of 23:43. The winning time on the women’s side,
17:11, was clocked in by Sarah Zerzan of Willamette University.
Other finishes for the Saints in the women’s race
were Amy Layton with a time of 19:46 followed by Taylor Shipman in 127th
at 20:02. Krinda Carlson came in with a time of 20:34 and Kaleigh
Bishop’s time of 20:50 put her in 191st. Jessica Pendon and Chelsi
Claussen finished 216th and 240th respectively with times of 21:17 and
21:54.
On the men’s side Robbie Wilbur came in 144th with a
time of 27:03. Steven La Londe posted a time of 27:10 for 148th and
Niwar Nasim ran the course in 27:16 putting him 156th. Tristan Beach
finished 179th in 27:35 while Josh Gatbunton ran a 28:10 and placing
211th.
The Saints next race is October 7th at the PLU
Invite in Tacoma. That will be the final race before the GNAC
Championships which will be hosted by Saint Martin’s on October 21st.
