Cross Country: Saints host SMU Invite

Lacey, WA – John Riak took first and both the men’s and women’s teams took third as the Saints played host to the SMU Invitational Meet Saturday on the SMU Campus.

Riak picked up his third win of the season finishing the 8k run in 25:14, 30 seconds ahead of second place finisher Nik Karr of Western Oregon. His time established a new PR, 15 seconds faster then his previous best.

Tris Obluck finished 12th with a time of 27:06 while Steven La Londe was 17th at 27:43. Nick Harvey posted a time of 28:40 to finish 31st and Kevin Tober came in with a time of 32:42 to place 45th.

The Saints had two top ten finishers on the women’s side. Freshman Annie Laweryson took 4th with a time of 19:08 and Jessie Dunnam came in 6th at 19:20. Laweryson set a new PR in the race improving by 13 seconds. Helen Camden posted a time of 19:55 to place 14th while Kaleigh Bishop was 19th at 20:36. Karissa Owen and Ninalynn Benitez finished 25th and 26th respectively. Owen posted a time of 21:27 and Benitez came in at 21:28.

The Saints’ next race will be next Saturday the 29th at Willamette University.
