April 22, 2008 Lacey, WA – Saint Martin’s Alicia Fuchs was named at the Great Northwest Athletic Conference softball Co-Pitcher-of-the-Week while Luke Abbott received honorable mention on the baseball side. Fuchs gave up just one run through nine innings in three appearances. She allowed just seven hits while striking out five. She pitched six scoreless innings against Montana State Billings on Sunday to pick up her sixth win of the season. “Alicia has come so far this season,” said head coach Tiffany Qunell. “She stepped up in the pitching role and has worked so hard to get where she is. She is extremely talented and dedicated which has paid off this year.” Abbott had five hits in five at bats, including two doubles, as the Saints recorded a two game sweep of Montana State Billings. He also drove in four runs. Abbott is now batting .392 on the season, third in the GNAC. “Luke had a good weekend. He saw the ball very well and made good contact,” said head coach Joe Dominiak.
