Softball: Saints lose twinbill at Central
April
24, 2008
Ellensburg, WA – Central Washington’s starting
pitchers combined to shutout Saint Martin’s and hold them to just four
hits as the Wildcats took two games from the Saints, 8-0 and 11-0,
Thursday at the CWU Softball Field.
Linse Vlahivich allowed just four hits through five
innings while striking out three in game one. While the Wildcats got all
the offensive power they would need early with four runs in the bottom
of the first inning. They tacked on two more in both the second and
fifth innings.
Brandi Klemm, Kristine Kaneshiro, and Danny White
had one hit apiece for the Saints. Jamie Herrick took the loss for the
Saints.
Kaneshiro led off game two with a bunt base hit but
that was all the offense the Saints would see as Central starter
Katriina Reime wouldn’t allow another hit through five innings and
struck out three.
The Wildcats scored in every inning that they were
at the plate and again tacked on four runs in the first. CWU had seven
starters come away with at least one hit in the game.
Alicia Fuchs was tagged with the loss throwing 1 2/3
innings allowing seven runs while walking three.
The Saints stay on the road as they travel to
Northwest Nazarene University to take on the Crusaders Friday and
Saturday.
