Carlson qualifies for nationals in 1500, leads Saints at UW May 16, 2005 Saints standout Nate Carlson will have one more race to add to his storied running career at Saint Martin's as he qualified to compete in the 1500 meters at the NCAA Division II National Championships in Abilene, Texas, May 27-29. Andy Prentice will await word tomorrow to see if his provisional mark in the same event will qualify as well. On Saturday, Carlson led the Saints efforts at the Ken Foreman Invitational at Husky Stadium in Seattle, with a second place finish in the 1500 meters with a time of 3:52.80. He was edged by UW runner Matt Owen who broke the line just .54 seconds earlier. Prentice placed third with a mark of 3:53.55. Sprinter Chelsi Claussen finished second in the 100 meter dash (12.81) and fifth in the 400 meter hurdles (1:04.10) in other Saints highlights at the invitational held for qualified athletes only.
