April 8, 2006 Tacoma, WA --- Saint Martin's University finished fifth in both the men's and women's divisions at the 26th annual University of Puget Sound J.D. Shotwell Invitational Track and Field meet on Saturday at Baker Stadium. Chelsi Claussen (So., Shelton, WA) was the lone individual two-event winner, sweeping the women's 200 meters (26.81) and 400 meters (1:00.16). Lakita Burr (Jr., Lakewood, WA) finished third in the 200 (28.05) and second in the 400 (1:01.04), while Jessica Pendon (Fr., Spanaway, WA) finished sixth in the 400 hurdles (1:10.72). On the men’s side, John Riak (Fr., Lacey, WA) won the 1500 meters in a time of 4:02.88 and finished sixth in the 800 (2:01.34). Caleb Timmer (So., Tacoma, WA) finished second in the 800 (1:56.95), while brother Josh Timmer (So., Tacoma, WA) placed third in the 110 hurdles (16.08) and fifth in the triple jump. Bryan Gerry (Fr., Lacey, WA) finished sixth in the 400 (53.82). Saint Martin’s next competes at the Central Washington University Spike Arlt Invitational on Apr. 15 in Ellensburg.
