Track: Saints take part in U. of Portland meet

Portland, OR (February 2) – Saint Martin’s indoor track team posted a strong showing as they took part in a total of seven events at the University of Portland Indoor Meet Friday night.

The Saints had only three women competing in three separate events. Krinda Carlson finished second in the women’s 800 meter run with a time of 2:25.9. Amy Layton took part in the 3000 meter race finishing with a time of 11:25.1, good enough for third. Danika Washington took seventh in the shot put with a distance of 8.67m, setting a school record.

On the men’s side, Aaron Edwards took second in the high jump going 1.83m, also a new school record. Asiki Ayume and Josh Gatbunton both ran in the 800 meter finishing fourth and fifth respectively with times of 2:03.8 and 2:04.6.

Robbie Wilbur finished fifth in the 3000 meter run with a time of 9:22.9. Tristan Beach posted a time of 9:42.4 to place 12th. Niwar Nasim finished 14th with a time of 9:53.9 while Steven LaLonde came in with a time of 9:55.2 to place 15th.

In the 400 meter dash Brian Gerry came in sixth with a time of 52.9. Brian Daltoso finished 11th in 59.9 and Kevin Tober placed 12th with a time of 1:02.7.

Gerry and Daltoso both took part in the 200 meter dash as well along with Aaron Edwards. Gerry finished in 23.7 to place seventh. Edwards placed eighth with a time of 23.8. Daltoso posted a time of 25.9 to finish in 10th place.

The Saints next meet with be on February 10th as they take part in the Husky Classic at the University of Washington.
