Track: Saints set two new school records

Seattle, WA (February 11) – The Saint Martin’s track
team set school records in both the women’s shot put and the men’s 4 x
400 meter relay Saturday at the UW Open at Dempsey Indoor.
Danika Washington threw the shot put 28’08” to set a
new school record for the second week in a row. The team of Caleb Timmer,
Josh Gatbunton, Asiki Ayume and Bryan Gerry battled pulling of a win in
their heat and breaking the previous school record by nine seconds with
a time of 3:28.03.
A number of other Saints runners set PRs at the
meet. Jessie Dunnam ran a 5:29.04 mile to win her heat. Amy Layton ran
an 11:01.61 in the 3000m while Krinda Carlson finished the 800m with a
time of 2:22.60.
On the men’s side, Aaron Edwards ran the 60m in 7.42
while Brian Gerry and Brian Daltoso also set PRs in the 400m with times
of 51.96 and 56.43 respectively. Four Saints set PRs in the men’s 800m.
Caleb Timmer finished with a time of 1:55.56 while Asiki Ayume ran a
2:00.91. Josh Gatbunton posted a time of 2:01.31 and Kevin Tober a time
of 2:18.43. Niwar Nasim and Steven LaLonde both ran in the 3000m
finishing with times of 9:29.18 and 9:33.85 respectively.
John Riak ran a fast mile, 4:19.81, to finish
eighth. Jessica Pendon, Jennifer Glover, Dharma Beatty, Taylor Shipman,
Katelynn Blume, Robbie Wilbur and Tristan Beach all ran season’s bests
in their events.
The Saints’ compete again next Monday at the GNAC
Conference Championships in Nampa, ID.
