Track: Saints earn multiple automatic conference qualifying marks

Tacoma, WA (March 17) – The Saint Martin’s track and
field team picked up five automatic conference qualifying marks Saturday
at the PLU Invitational.
The first to pick up one of those qualifying marks
was Jessie Dunnam who ran the women’s 10k in 39:16.56; just one second
shy of the school record. Bill Richardson set a school record in the
high jump at 6’6”, to earn him automatic conference mark. In the men’s
10k Niwar Nasim posted a time of 33:20.41.
Both the men’s and women’s 4 x 400m relay teams
picked up automatic qualifying marks. The women’s team of Chelsi
Claussen, Kaleigh Bishop, Jessica Pendon, and Krinda Carlson finished
with a time of 4:22.49 while the men’s team of Josh Gatbunton, Asiki
Ayume, John Riak and Caleb Timmer ran a 3:29.15.
Aaron Edwards took fourth in the high jump with
6’0”, his best collegiate jump. He also set a new PR in the triple jump
with a jump of 42’05” good enough for second place. Both jumps gave
Edwards provisional qualifying marks.
Other Saints to pick up provisional qualifying marks
included Krinda Carlson who ran the 800m in 2:22.25 and Riak in the
1500m with a time of 4:01.44. Timmer finished the men’s 800m in 1:58.22
while Ayume posted a time of 1:58.73. Jessica Pendon posted a time of
63.22 in the 400m and Taylor Shipman ran the 10k in 43:05.17. Claussen
picked up two provisional marks, one in the 100m with a time of 13.09
and one in the 200m at 27.07. Tristan Beach ran the 10k in 34:45.23, a
new PR for him.
Robbie Wilbur set a new PR in the 1500m finishing
with a time of 4:11.12. Also posting a new PR was Katelynn Blume in the
women’s 1500m at 5:55.43.
Amy Layton ran the women’s 1500m in 5:17.24. In the
women’s shot Danika Washington threw for 28’01”. On the men’s side Brian
Daltoso ran the 100m in 12.48 and the 200m in 25.52. Steven LaLonde
posted a time of 2:12.83 in the 800m and 4:30.07 in the 1500m. Devin
Sturgeon threw the shot 33’10.75 and the javelin 95’11”. Gatbunton
finished the men’s 1500m with a time of 4:09.25.
In other track action, John Riak participated in the
UW Outdoor Preview Friday night and finished 3rd in the 3000m setting a
new school record of 8:34.13.
