January 20, 2008 Seattle, WA – Saint Martin’s saw a total of four school records fall, including three on the women’s side and one on the men’s, as they took part in the UW Indoor Preview Meet at the Dempsey Indoor facility on Saturday, January 19th. Freshman Megan Thomas broke the women’s shot put record for the second time this season with a throw of 32’6.5”. The throw beat her previous record, set in December, by more than three and a half feet. The women’s mile record was also broken for the second time this season. Annie Laweryson finished with a time of 5:14.48, almost five seconds faster. Krinda Carlson, who set the record earlier this season, also finished under the previous mark with a time of 5:15.59. Jill Blake was the third Saint of the day to post a new school record, this time in the women’s weight throw. Blake’s throw totaled 30’10.5”. Sam Washington was the lone record breaker on the men’s side. His toss in the men’s weighted throw of 38’4” demolished the previous record by almost nine feet. There were a number of Saints who established new personal records as well. Jessie Dunnam clocked in at 5:21.26 in the women’s mile. In the men’s 800m Nick Harvey ran a 2:05.07 while Steven LaLonde finished the men’s 3000m in 9:25.28 and Michael Vavricka posted a throw of 29’1” in the men’s weight throw. Karissa Owen and Helen Camden also set new PRs in the women’s 800m and 3000m respectively. Owen finished with a time of 2:33.53 and Camden came in at 11:24.31.
