Lacey, WA – Saint Martin’s has had a total of seven
student-athletes, five women and two men, named to the Great Northwest
Athletic Conference Track and Field Academic all-star team.
Of the women’s academic all-stars there were two in
the conference with a perfect 4.00 grade point average, one of which was
SMU’ Krinda Carlson, an English major from Pateros, WA.
The Saints had three athletes selected for the third
year including Jessie Dunnam, a senior education major with a 3.53 GPA,
Chelsi Claussen, a senior biology major maintaining a 3.41 grade point,
and Steven La Londe who has a 3.44 GPA as a business major.
Kaleigh Bishop, who is a senior majoring in business
with a 3.99 grade point average, was selected for the second consecutive
year.
Also making it to the team were Amy Layton and Bill
Richardson. Layton is a senior biology major from Toledo, WA who is
maintaining a 3.84 GPA. Richardson, a junior from Shelton, WA, has a
3.39 grade point as a business major.
“Here are seven athletes that have worked out and
competed all of the 2007-08 school year, and kept on top of their
studies so well that they are recognized with these academic honors at
the close of a long school year; what a way to make Saint Martin's
proud,” said head coach Julie Sullivan.
