Women’s Basketball: Saints fall to Northwest Missouri State; outshoot

Bellingham, WA (November 24) – Saint Martin’s fell
80-58 to Northwest Missouri State University at the Western Washington
University Lynda Goodrich Women’s Basketball Classic at the Sam Carver
Gymnasium.
Just eight minutes into the game the Saints were
down by only two, 14-12 until the Bearcats went on a tear and took
control of the game. The Bearcats held the Saints without a field goal
for more then nine minutes and opened up a 35-17 lead. Northwest
Missouri had a 37-25 lead going into the break, then went on another run
midway through the second half scoring 21 of 25 points to go up 61-35
with 8:18 left to play.
Center Kassie Ludeman led the Saints with 13 points
and six rebounds. Whitney Golob had 11 points and nine rebounds.
Bellingham, WA (November 25) – Saint Martin’s took
an early lead to defeat Pacific Lutheran University 62-44 on the final
day of the Lynda Goodrich Classic.
The Saints took an 11-2 lead to start off the game
holding and maintained it throughout the half as PLU hit just three of
their first 29 shots from the field. SMU went into halftime up by 11,
33-22. The Lutes pulled within eight, 38-30, with 15:37 left in the
second half but never got that close again.
The Lutes shot just 22 percent from the field. The
Saints shot only 33.9 percent from the field but were 5-of-12 from the
three point line and 15-of-16 from the free throw line.
Sade Smith scored 14 points for the Saints and had
six rebounds. Necia Jerome added 13 points while Whitney Golob pulled
down eight rebounds.
The Saints travel to North Dakota this Tuesday to
take on the University of North Dakota.
