Women’s Basketball: Saints roll to easy win over Northwest

Lacey, WA – Northwest University put up the first
basket of the night to go ahead 2-0 but that was the only time the
Eagles would see themselves on top as the Saints took the win 79-55
Thursday night at the SMU Pavilion.
The Saints jumped out early holding the Eagles to
two points for almost ten minutes and going ahead 25-2. The Saints
continued to pour it on going into the break up 44-18. The Eagles didn’t
sink a single three and only shot 27 percent from the field in the first
half.
NU scored 12 of the first 14 points in the second
half to shrink the Saints’ lead to 16 but that was as close as they
would get. SMU quickly pulled away increasing their lead to a much as 28
and easily putting away the win.
The Saints shot 50 percent from the field to the
Eagles’ 34 percent. The Eagles also struggled with the three going only
1-for-11 on the night.
The Saints had a good night offensively as every
player in the game for SMU scored. Necia Jerome led the Saints with 12
points. Krissy Bassett posted 11 points and pulled down seven boards.
The Saints’ next home game is this Saturday when
they take on Montana State-Billings at the SMU Pavilion in a special
3:00 p.m. start time.
