Women’s Basketball: Saints fall to Montana-State Billings

Lacey, WA – The Saint Martin’s women’s basketball
team shot only 31.8 percent from the field as they lost to Montana
State-Billings 84-68 Saturday at the SMU Pavilion.
The Yellowjackets went up by seven early but the
Saints battled their way back to pull within one with 9:35 left in the
half. The Saints never got closer as MSUB held them off began to pull
away. SMU was down by 13 at the half, 41-28.
The Yellowjackets continued to add to their lead in
the second half. With just over a minute to go MSUB was up by 20.The
Saints scored the last four points of the game but the deficit was too
much for them to overcome.
MSUB had a total of five players in double figures.
Michelle Lieber posted a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds on
the night.
Whitney Golob and Amber Harmon led the Saints with
11 points each. All 11 of Golob’s points came on free throws as she went
11-12 from the line. She also pulled down 12 boards for the Saints. Sade
Smith put up 10 point on the night.
The Saints have a short break before heading down to
California to take part in the Chico State Classic where they will face
Cal-State Chico and Cal-State Stanislaus.
