Women’s Basketball: Saints downed by nationally ranked Chico State

Chico, CA (December 20) – Chico State had five
players in double figures and forced 41 Saint Martin’s turnovers to get
the win 80-50 Wednesday night at the Chico State Classic in Acker
Gymnasium.
The Saints were led by Breanne Lindquist who posted
11 points on the night. Kassie Ludeman added 10 points, while Whitney
Golob had eight points and a game high 11 rebounds.
The ninth ranked Wildcats were led by Amber Simmons
with 14 points and nine rebounds. Niki Simons added 13 points while
Christine Vest had 12. Jade Smith-Williams and Audriana Spencer posted
11 and 10 points respectively.
The Wildcats quickly built their lead in the first
half scoring 15 of 20 points in the final six minutes to go into
halftime up 44-22. Chico continued to pour it on in the second half. The
closet Saint Martin’s got was when Lindquist hit a free throw shot with
14:35 to put the Saints down by 17. The Wildcats then went on a tear,
posting a 29-8 run to increase their lead to 37 and take the win.
Saint Martin’s will face Cal-State Stanislaus
Thursday night in their final game of the tournament.
