Women’s Basketball: Saints lose tough game in overtime

Chico, CA (December 21) – Cal State Stanislaus hit a
three point shot at the buzzer to tie the game and force overtime
against Saint Martin’s Thursday. The Warriors would go on the capture
the win, 87-81 in the CCAA-GNAC Challenge at Acker Gym.
The Saints led through most of the first half, going
up by as much at 12, until Stanislaus tied the game with just over eight
minutes to go. The score would be tied three more times before the end
of the half. Destiny Schang hit a layin to put the Saints up by two,
34-32 going into the break.
The Saints got up early in the second half and built
their lead to 13. Stanislaus’ Shristy Kumar hit three threes in the
final three and a half minutes, the final one at the buzzer to tie the
game 73-73 and send it into overtime.
It was all Stanislaus in the extra period as the
Warriors built up an eight point lead and held on for the win.
The Saints out shot the Warriors from the floor 47
to 41.9 percent. Amber Harmon led the Saints with 20 points and Kassie
Ludeman had 15. Every Saint scored in the game.
Stanislaus had four players in double figures. Kumar
finished the game with 22 points. Karaya Gage had a game high 24 points.
Lysandra Williams had 14 points while Gwendolyn Page had 11 on the
night.
The Saints’ next game will be January 4th when they
open up conference play against Western Washington University.
