Women’s Basketball: Saints lose to Vikings

Bellingham, WA (January 27) – Saint Martin’s women’s
basketball was out shot in a 70-44 loss to Western Washington University
Saturday night at Carver Gym.
The Vikings scored the first two points to take the
lead, which they maintained the entire game. The Saints were held to
just three points in the first six minutes and went into the break down
37-19. Western Washington continued to build on their lead in the second
half going up by as much as 29.
The Saints shot only 28.3 percent from the line and
only 16.7 percent from the three to the Vikings’ 43.8 percent.
Amber Harmon led the Saints with eight points while
Jessie Reome and Krissy Bassett both posted seven.
The Vikings were led by Mollie Stelmack with 16
points. Willow Cabe put up 15 and India Soo had 10. Claire Pallansch had
a game high 11 rebounds. The win put the Vikings at 14-5 overall and 6-2
in conference. They have also gone 8-0 at home this season.
The Saints fell to 5-13 overall and 1-6 in
conference.
The Saints get ready to travel to Alaska this
weekend to face both Fairbanks and Anchorage.
