Women’s Basketball: Saints down Redhawks

Seattle, WA (February 24) – Saint Martin’s got a
game high 19 points from Kassie Ludeman and another 16 from Jessi Reome
on their way to defeating Seattle University 68-67 Saturday night at the
Connolly Center.
Seattle got up by 12 with over four minutes left in
the first half but the Saints went on an 11-0 run to go into the break
down by just one 31-30. The Redhawks scored the first seven points to
open the second half but the Saints scored the next eight to tie it.
With 9:31 to go the Redhawks again built their lead
to 10 but the Saint battled back. Saint Martin’s rallied to tie the game
three more times before taking the lead on two made free throws by
Whitney Golob. Seattle got back on top when Ashley Brown sank a jumper
with 46 seconds left. Jamey Gelhar hit a layup to help the Saints regain
the lead with 14 second left on the clock. Seattle got off the final two
shots but missed both sealing the victory for the Saints.
Ludeman and Breanne Lindquist had a game high eight
rebounds each for the Saints. The Saints took full advantage of their
free shots shooting 88 percent from the line going 22-25. Seattle was
only four for eight from the line.
Cassidy Murillo led the Redhawks with 15 points.
Laura Jones added 12 and Laina Sobczak added 10.
The Saints are back at home this week in their final
two games of the season against both Alaska teams.
