November 28, 2007
Lacey, WA – Saint Martin’s used a quick start and a
balanced attack on their way to a victory over Notre Dame de Namur 68-51
in non-conference action Wednesday night at the SMU Pavilion.
The Saints shot 41.1 percent from the field and held
the Argonauts to 34.6 percent. Notre Dame de Namur had a total of 28
turnovers in the game which the SMU was able to capitalize on and score
21 points off of.
Amber Harmon led the Saints with a game high 14
points, going 4-6 from the field and 5-5 from the line. Dara Zack, who
had five of Saint Martin’s first nine points, added 11 points on the
night. Kassie Ludeman and Sade Smith had nine each.
Saint Martin’s scored the first nine points of the
game and never looked back. They would go up by as much as 11 before
taking a 33-29 lead into the break.
SMU built their lead back up in the second half
never letting the Argos get within less than six the rest of the way.
They would score eight of the final ten points on their way to a win.
“We are really excited to pick up a win against a
West Region opponent; it felt good to come out and play well on our home
court,” said Harmon. “We prepared really well and I think it showed;
this was a good team effort.”
The Saints, who are now 3-1 on the season, will play
again at home this Saturday, December 1, against the University of Puget
Sound.
