Women’s Basketball: Saints lance Knights
December
14, 2007
Lacey, WA – Saint Martin’s used an 11 point run to
take a solid lead over Warner Pacific College in the first half and
never looked back rolling to an easy 84-49 victory Friday night in a
non-conference, make up game at the SMU Pavilion.
The Saints held the Knights scoreless for a stretch
of four minutes in the first half while building an 11 point lead. They
would keep on adding to their point total and took a decisive 37-20
advantage into the break.
Saint Martin’s continued to pour it on in the second
half never letting Warner Pacific cut into that 17 point differential.
Krissy Bassett came off the bench to lead the Saints
with 24 points and nine rebounds. Jamey Gelhar added 15 points and
Kassie Ludeman had 10. Dara Zack posted a game high 10 rebounds on the
night.
“We came out and played with a lot of intensity
tonight,” said Krissy Bassett. “We kept pushing and never gave them a
chance to get into the game. It was good to see us taking advantage and
making the shots when we had the opportunity.”
The Saints, who got 45 points from their bench, shot
43.6 percent from the field while the Knights connected on just 28.8
percent. SMU also controlled the boards pulling down 53 rebounds to
Warner Pacific’s 35.
Saint Martin’s will play again at home next Tuesday,
December 18th when they take on Pacific Lutheran at 7 p.m. in the SMU
Pavilion.
