Women’s Golf: Saints open spring season at Lady Otter Invitational

Seaside, CA --- Saint Martin's Stacie Henden
finished sixth overall at the California State Monterey Bay Lady Otter
Invitational women’s golf tournament at the Bayonet Golf Course on
Tuesday.
Henden (So., Allyn, WA) shot 81 in the opening
round, followed by 84 in the final round to finish the 36-hole event at
21-over (165). Henden was just seven strokes behind medalist Katie Leong
of California State University – Chico who finished at 157 overall.
Leong beat teammate Catie Munroe, the tournament
runner-up, by five strokes. Chico, which shot 325 as a team Tuesday, won
the tournament championship with a 654 total. St. Edwards was second at
668, followed by host Cal State Monterey Bay at 676 and Berry College
(Ga.) at 680. Mesa State rounded out the top five at 700.
SMU’s Maria Laraisse (Jr., Agadir, Morocco) and
Bridgette Kennedy (So., Olympia, WA) each shot a 174 to tie at 23rd and
Lisa Bornasal shot a 209 to give the Saints a team score of 722, good
for tenth place in the team standings.
The Saints are scheduled to return to action March
26-28 at the Grand Canyon University Spring Invitational at the Palm
Valley Golf Club in Goodyear, AZ.
