Women's Golf: Coltom and O’Hollaren sign National Letters of Intent to play at Saint Martin’s
May 22, 2006
Lacey --- Saint Martin’s University women’s golf
coach Bob Grisham announced today the signing of two National Letters of
Intent. New to the team next year will be Alexi Coltom of Puyallup and
Emily Ruth O’Hollaren of Longview.
“Both Alexi and Emily will bring much needed depth
in competition to next years’ squad,” commented Grisham.
Coltom, a senior from Emerald Ridge High School, is
a two-time first team All-League selection. She was a medalist in nine
of 12 matches her senior year and eight of 10 matches her junior year.
Throughout her high school career, Coltom has been selected as Most
Valuable Player three years running. She has also achieved success in
the classroom as she was a first team Academic All-League honoree both
her junior and senior seasons.
O’Hollaren, a senior out of Mark Morris High School,
is a four-year letterman and two-time most inspirational award winner.
Her junior year she placed seventh individually at the District
Championships and qualified for the State Tournament. That same year,
she also garnered Greater St. Helens second team All-League honors.
“We are extremely excited to have signed two players
with the caliber of play of Alexi and Emily,” Grisham said. “They will
join an already strong recruiting class.”
The additions of Coltom and O’Hollaren bring SMU's
recruiting class total to four. The Saints signed Lauren Roberts and
Destiny Schang in the fall.
Roberts, a senior at 3A North Mason High School, is
a two-time first-team all-Nisqually all-star. Roberts, the 2005
Washington Junior Golf Association State Championship Long Drive
Champion, carries an eight handicap with an 18-hole average of 81. As a
junior, she was named Kitsap Sun “Athlete of the Week” and voted most
valuable player and team captain for the Bulldogs. As a sophomore, she
was first-team all-Nisqually and second-team all-Nisqually as a
freshman.
Schang, a senior at Woodland High School, earned
first team all-Trico honors for the league and district-champion Beavers
this fall. Schang is also a standout basketball player at Woodland. She
will be a dual sport athlete at Saint Martin’s, as she plans to
participate on the Saints women’s basketball team as well.
