Women’s Golf: Prante and Henden co-Medalists
October 5, 2007
Lacey, WA – Babe Prante and Stacie Henden share
co-Medalist honors as Saint Martin’s wrapped up play at the SMU Women’s
Golf Invitational played at the Tumwater Valley Golf and Country Club.
As a team the Saints finished second.
Tied for first after a two-day two-round total of
145, Prante and Henden took part in a one hole playoff with Prante
coming out victorious. Both shot a 71 in round one and a 74 in round
two.
“Stacie and Babe played extremely well over the last
two days and because of that are co-school record holders for the best
tournament score; that’s great to see,” said head coach Bob Grisham.
After shooting a school record round one of 297 the
Saints put together a solid outing on day two with a 312 for a combined
609, but it wasn’t enough as Western Washington University edged them
out by one stroke shooting 608.
Lauren Roberts finished the tournament in 11th lace
with a total 159 while Amy Dalzell was right behind her in 12th after
shooting 160. Alexi Coltom shot 167 to finish 20th and Emily O’Hollaren
was 24th with a 187.
“That’s just the way golf is; we scored very well
yesterday making the shots we needed to make, today we were unable to
get the job done and left some shots out on the course,” added Grisham.
“Overall, we still played well. It was a good start in the fall and a
preview of things to come. This is a team that has experience and we’ll
use that down the road.”
The Saints will head to Bellingham to take part in
the Western Washington Invitational this Monday and Tuesday.
