April
29, 2008
Lacey, WA – The Saint Martin’s women’s golf team is
one of six teams to qualify for the West Regional tournament as
announced by the NCAA Division II Women’s Golf Committee. It is the
Saints’ first ever regional berth.
“I am very proud and pleased that the team qualified
for regional play for the first time in the program’s history,” said
head coach Bob Grisham. “We felt at the beginning of the year that we
had the ability to compete for a spot at the regional tournament and we
are looking forward to the challenge.”
Making up this year’s team are seniors Stacie Henden
and Babe Prante, junior Amy Dalzell, and sophomores Alexi Coltom and
Lauren Roberts.
This year’s team clinched their first ever
tournament victory with a win at the Notre Dame de Namur Invitational
with a two-round total of 644, winning by 25 strokes.
Babe Prante and Stacie Henden also earned
co-medalist honors at the SMU Women’s Golf Tournament this fall.
The West Regional will be held at the Legacy Golf
Resort in Phoenix, AZ May 5-7. A total of six teams will compete in the
54 hole competition with the top two teams advancing to the
championships.
