Women’s Soccer: Yellowjacket offense downs Saints
September 16, 2007
Billings, MT – Montana State Billings put together a
solid second half to beat Saint Martin’s 6-2 in a women’s soccer
conference game Sunday at the College of Technology Field.
The Yellowjackets scored first with a goal in the
third minute of the first half. The Saints answered quickly with a goal
in the fifth minute on a free kick from 35 yards by Julianna Sackeyfio,
her first of the year.
MSUB was able to pick up a goal in the 33rd minute
to go into the break up 2-1. Billings broke the game open in the second
half as Samantha Sandau sent two into the net within a three minute time
span to take a 4-1 lead.
Ashley Biral connected for her second goal of the
year at 59:40 sending one off the defender and over the goalie to pull
the Saints to within two.
The Yellowjackets would seal the deal with two more
goals late in the second half. Brittany Sandau scored in the 78th minute
while Kari Foreman connected for her second goal of the day at the 84
minute mark.
“Ashley’s goal in the first half was a byproduct of
her hard work up front. It was very well earned and good to see. Trisha
Halvorson played really well stepping into midfield when we had some
injuries and she did a great job,” said head coach Rob Walker. “I felt
that the game was within our reach until things went to pieces for about
a 20 minutes stretch in the second half. We had some good moments and
just need to keep building.”
The Saints’ next game will be at home against
Seattle Pacific on Wednesday, September 19th at the RAC.
