Women’s Soccer: Saints shutout by Redhawks

October 21, 2007

Federal Way, WA – Due to field conditions at the Saints regular home field, Saint Martin’s played host to Seattle University at Decatur High School Sunday afternoon and came away on the losing end as the Redhawks shutout the Saints 4-0.

The score remained at zeros for most of the first half until the Redhawks got on the board in the 38th minute. Leah Wymer was able to send in a shot off a deflection. SU took the 1-0 lead into the break.

Seattle would quickly pick up another goal in the second half just over a minute in when Kara Kuttler scored off another deflection. Kahlyn Keilty-Lucas was credited with the assist; she would go on to score the Redhawks third goal of the game at the 55:06 mark. SU’s final goal came in the 88th minute as Megan Fogarty sent it into the far post.

Seattle sent 29 shots at the SMU goal and Saints’ keeper Breanna Klasen, who spent nearly 75 minuets in goal, had 15 saves on the day.

The Saints next game will be Saturday, October 27th against Western Washington University in Bellingham.
