We offer four minors including a minor in education, physical education,
reading and special education. Completing a minor in the education department
does not satisfy the state requirements for teacher certification.
For a minor in education students must apply for acceptance
before enrolling in any upper-division coursework. Students must
meet the same requirements as those applying for a major in
education.
To obtain a minor in education you must complete 19-20 semester
hours. Below is a list of the courses you must complete:
Lower-division courses (6 semester hours) include:
ED 204 - Introduction to education
ED 205 - Child and adolescent development
Upper-division courses (13-14 semester hours) include:
SED 359 - Introduction to exceptionality
ED 306 - Curriculum and instruction
ED 383 - Issues of abuse/teacher as counselor

To obtain a minor in physical education you must complete 19-20
