Volunteer and work opportunities
If you are interested in on-campus employment or great
volunteer opportunities in an exciting office, come to Campus
Ministry and greet the staff!
We have positions in three different areas. In the lounge you
can help greet people, keep snacks stocked and share in great
conversations. On or around campus you can coordinate exciting
events such as service projects or prayers. Finally, in the
office you can help with specific projects or events and leave
your mark on the traditions of our campus.
Volunteer positions
Our philosophy in Campus Ministry is that we are a team. The
Campus Ministry Team is made up of our professional staff,
student volunteers, paid student workers and interns. Most
people join the Campus Ministry Team by volunteering in our
Campus Ministry Lounge. Many people decide to give their time
and talents to this particular role during their entire time at
Saint Martin's University.
Of course, this is not the only way you can volunteer in
Campus Ministry. If you are interested coordinating new and
exciting events, you can do that, too. Most of our prayer groups
and service projects are student initiated and maintained
events. If you ever thought you wanted to be a leader in this
way, talk to
Susan Leyster or
Brian Suda today. Campus Ministry has the resources and the
desire to help you make excellent events and develop or hone the
skills that will make you successful. This is also a great way
to build your resume!
Paid positions
The Benedictine tradition emphasizes stewardship as
appreciating and caring lovingly for all the goods of our place.
That is why Campus Ministry calls our core team of paid student
workers Stewards. Stewards work hard to help ensure that every
area of Campus Ministry is given the time, attention and care it
needs to be the best it can be. Feel free to ask them any
questions. The current Stewards are:
Every spring semester Campus Ministry accepts applications.
Steward positions require some previous background in Campus
Ministry which many of our Stewards get by volunteering.
In addition to the Steward positions, there are some events
that people coordinate for which we do pay a regular stipend.
Internships
Campus Ministry also supports students hoping to complete an
internship for their degree. There is so much diversity within
Campus Ministry that interns aren't simply for religious studies
or community service majors.
