Faith is a cornerstone value for Saint Martin's University. Saint
Martin's University is Catholic and Benedictine - a faith based
institution of higher learning. Saint Martin's has been explicitly
founded and is intentionally rooted in the spirituality of Saint
Benedict of Nursia. This spirituality finds its energy and identity
in the Rule of Saint Benedict - a document that insists God
is to be known, experienced and loved in the context of community
and in the daily events and routines of our lives. It is this
spiritual vision that motivates and drives Campus Ministry at Saint
Celebrating the Mass is the central act of worship for the Catholic
Church. Our student led Campus Ministry Mass is celebrated in the Abbey
Church on Sunday evenings at 7 p.m. Fr. Peter Tynan, O.S.B., our
university Chaplain, is our principal celebrant and preacher. Music is
led by our liturgical choir under the direction of Mr. Darrell Born. All
are welcome to join us.
Weekday Mass is celebrated in the Burton Hall Addition on Tuesdays
and Thursdays at 9:30 p.m.
Uprising is a student led, ecumenical Christian worship service that
employs music, scripture and spontaneous prayer as a way of
strengthening our faith community. Uprising meets on Monday evenings
at 8 p.m. in the Burton Hall addition. Please contact our coordinator
David Ward for more
information. All are welcome.
Students meet for the recitation of the rosary on Thursdays at 9 p.m. in
the prayer room in Spangler Hall.
In the Lacey-Olympia area, there are houses of worship for Protestant
and Orthodox Christians and for many other religious communities as
well. Please stop by the Campus Ministry office in Old Main Room 201F if
you would like more information.
