Q: Do I have to have a Master's degree to be admitted to the program?

A: Yes, a masters degree is required. This is a certification requirement. Those without a master's degree wishing to earn ESA certification should apply for our MED program Guidance and Counseling Strand.

Q: Does my masters degree have to be in education or psychology?

A: No, your Master's can be in any area, as long as it was awarded by a regionally accredited university.

Q: Do students qualify for federal financial aid, given it is a certification and not a degree program?

A: Yes, students in the post-masters Certification Only programs do qualify for federal financial aid at the graduate level. Please note that the only federal aid available for graduate level work is unsubsidized Stafford loans.

Q: Do I have to take the GRE for admission?

A: No, the GRE is not required for the post-master's programs.

Q: Can I complete the 400 hour internship while working at my full-time job?

A: While it may be possible, it can difficult and can take a good amount of time. It is important to discuss the details with the faculty advisor to see if this is feasible in your specific situation.

Q: Is this program offered at the JBLM campus?

A: No, this program is only offered at the main campus in Lacey.

Q: When are classes usually scheduled?

A: Classes are typically offered in the evenings from 6:00 - 8:50pm, with each class offered one night a week.
