Inaugural speaker
The Rev. Edward A. Malloy, C.S.C.
President Emeritus, University of Notre Dame
The Rev. Edward A. Malloy, C.S.C., president
emeritus of the University of Notre Dame, served the university for 18
years before retiring in 2005. A member of Notre Dame’s faculty since
1974, he continues to teach in the university’s department of theology.
Malloy has published six books, edited/ co-edited two others and
authored scores of articles and book chapters. His latest book, “Monk’s
Notre Dame” was published in fall 2005. Malloy’s doctorate is in
Christian ethics from Vanderbilt University. He also is the recipient of
22 honorary degrees and has been honored in many other ways for his long
leadership in bettering higher education, promoting community service
and combating substance abuse.
