Cynthia M. Caron, Ph.D., is project coordinator at
the American Institute for Sri Lankan Studies in Colombo and special
consultant to Minister Rishad Bathiudeen, Minister for Resettlement,
Government of Sri Lanka. She has a long background in environmental
management and applied sociology in South Asia and has served as a
consultant for numerous organizations worldwide, including CARE
International and the United Nations. She received a Ph.D. in
Development Sociology in 2003 from New York’s Cornell University.
