Track and Field: Washington named Freshman-of-the-Year
May 31, 2008
Spokane, WA – Saint Martin’s Sam Washington was
named as the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Male Track and Field
Freshman-of-the-Year.
Washington, from Lincoln High School in Tacoma, WA,
placed seventh in the national meet with the second longest shot put
throw in GNAC history at 54’10”, a new school record. He also won the
shot and took second in the discus at the conference meet.
“Sam's great track and field season ends with this
great accolade from GNAC. When you think of the number of new freshman
at every school in the conference for both track and field events and to
come out on top, voted by the other coaches in GNAC, this is fantastic,”
said head coach Julie Sullivan.
