Women’s Soccer: Saints lose to Clan 1-0
September
9, 2008
Burnaby, B.C. – Sarah Boulton scored her sixth goal
of the season to lead Simon Fraser to a 1-0 win over Saint Martin’s
Tuesday afternoon in non-conference action.
Boulton’s goal came in the 78th minute as she
received a cross from Aly Benes and sent the ball past Saints’ keeper
Ashley Engel.
Saint Martin’s got off just six shots in the game,
three in each half, while the Clan sent 16 toward the SMU goal. Engel
made five saves for the Saints before allowing the game winner.
“We’ve played three quality games so far and based
on where I want to be at the end of the season hopefully these are good
stepping stones for us,” said head coach Rob Walker. “With a little more
quality we could have probably been 0-0 in this game which would have
been terrific for us. Overall, I’m pleased with what we’ve done so far.”
The Saints return home to face Humboldt State
University this Friday, September 12th.
