Dean's message

Dr. Richard BeerThe School of Business is committed to develop leaders for tomorrow’s business world. Our programs in Business Administration, Accounting, and the MBA provide all the skills needed to succeed in today’s fast changing world. Students entering a university now will most likely change careers five times in their professional lives. They will be working in fields that have yet to be invented and developed. They will be routinely working with people from all corners of the world. The Greek philosopher Heraclitus said: “All is flux and transformation, everything flows, nothing abides.” And so it is with business, forcing you quickly to become aware that learning is a lifelong enterprise. We are taking great pride in preparing our students for such a world. The School of Business is placing emphasis on the fundamentals, such as critical thinking and problem solving, and a blended approach of theory and practice.  The School maintains close ties to the local business community which affords students with internship opportunities and real world connections for class projects. We are continually developing international partnerships and all students are encouraged to participate in study abroad opportunities – this global community is the world they will be working in.

Equally important to the professional skills required of a business leader is the continual development of the human spirit. Independent of any religious affiliation, our highest goal is to educate professionals who reflect the Benedictine values. We educate our students to be passionate with compassion, global thinkers grounded in community, to know, to care, and to serve.
