Master of Civil Engineering Program
The Master of Civil Engineering (MCE) Program is designed to provide engineering and science graduates with specialized
technical knowledge oriented toward professional engineering practice in their field of interest
within civil engineering.
The program includes advanced courses in structural engineering,
transportation engineering, environmental engineering, geotechnical
engineering and construction management.
The curriculum is adaptable to both recent
graduates and engineers with professional experience. The student will emerge with enhanced
engineering analysis and design skills according to his or her professional objectives. All courses are
offered in the late afternoon or evening to accommodate working students
who are professionals.
Admission requirements
The MCE program is open to students who meet one of
the following lists of criteria:
-
A bachelor of science degree in civil engineering with:
A cumulative grade point average of at least 2.80 for all
undergraduate work, OR a 3.00 for all upper-division engineering
courses, OR a passing score on the nationally conducted
Fundamentals of
Engineering (FE) Examination.
-
A bachelor of science degree in another engineering field or
the sciences and:
A cumulative grade point average of at least 2.8 for all
undergraduate work and completion of calculus (one year),
differential equations, physics (one year), chemistry (one-half
year), statics, mechanics of materials and dynamics.
-
A bachelor of science degree in any field, plus current
registration as a
Professional
Engineer
(PE).
Application process for the MCE program
Application to the program can be made at any time prior to the
beginning of a new semester.
Application process for the BSCE/MCE Combined
Degree program
A student enters the bachelor of science in civil engineering (BSCE)/master
of civil engineering (MCE) combined degree program by applying for
admissions during his or her senior year at Saint Martin's University.
If accepted, up to six hours of approved MCE courses may be applied
toward both the bachelor's and master's degree, provided the student
enrolls in the MCE Program the year following graduation. Additional
MCE Program coursework may be taken as an undergraduate and reserved for
application to the master's degree. Thus, both the undergraduate and
graduate degrees in civil engineering could be earned in five academic
years.
Applicants must submit:
-
Graduate application form.
-
$35 application fee (nonrefundable).
-
Three letters of recommendation, preferably
from professors, registered engineers or supervisors.
-
Official copies of college/university
transcripts.
-
International students also must submit a
declaration of finance and TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign
Language) scores. International students original transcript should
be validated by the World Education Services in Seattle, Washington.
All application materials should be sent directly
