Adding an email box to your Outlook

  1. Open Outlook
  2. Click on "Tools"
  3. Click on "Services"(if XP "Email Accounts")
  4. Click on "New Account"
  5. We prefer you choose IMAP (Click for instructions), or if necessary POP3( POP3 Can Remove and Delete all your mail from the server unless you follow these instructions)
  6. For Incoming Server:  "mail.stmartin.edu"
  7. For Outgoing Server:  If you are off-campus, use the value provided by your ISP (e.g. mail.comcast.net).  If you are on-campus (e.g. in SMU's residence halls), use "mail.stmartin.edu"
  8. Type in Username, and password.
  9. Click on "ok"
  10. Click on "ok"
  11. Click on "ok"

Make sure your outlook has the folder view up. If it doesn't have the "folder list" up, do the following:

  1. Click on "View"
  2. Click on "Folder List"

If your email program is NOT Outlook, these instructions will still apply, you just may have to search a bit for the settings windows.  Try looking under Preferences or Settings.
