Hosting opportunities!

photo of friends We offer a variety of host family opportunities for you! Whatever your availability, we want to accommodate. If you do not see a program or schedule that works for you, please contact us about other options.

Host family relationships are very simple --do whatever you normally do with your day and with your family, only, include an international student. Host families are not expected to go on continuous sight-seeing trips, but rather to incorporate the student into your normal routine. You don't have to have everything perfect and put together to be a host family. Be yourself, get to know them, and have fun.

Currently we are offering three different programs:

1. Summer cultural exchange program (weekends; summer only)- This program is designed for exchange students from various international universities to visit Saint Martin's and participate in a cross-cultural learning experience for four weeks. This program runs from mid-June through mid-August and needs families to host on various or continuous weekends during that time. Your commitment would include picking up your student(s) on a Friday evening and returning them by Sunday evening. As a host family you would provide housing for two nights, meals, and interaction with the student. It's up to you as to what family activities you want to participate in with them.

2. Home away from home program (weekends; long-term)- The purpose of this program is to connect currently enrolled Saint Martin's international students with a host family in order to build a long term relationship that continues through the school year and possibly throughout their entire time at Saint Martin's. This program offers an adaptable yet consistent opportunity for the host family to build relationships with the student. The host family and student have the ability choose when they wish to connect and what they would like to do. This program allows the host family to be a "home away from home" for the student, providing comfort and care when needed.

3.The American holidays program (weekends; short-term)- The purpose of this program is to provide international students a place to stay and experience American traditions during certain holidays or breaks in which the campus is closed or students go home. This program offers a short-term commitment for host families. International students feel honored to be a part of our holidays and traditions like Thanksgiving, Christmas, or Easter.
