Steps for study abroad:

  1. Plan. The sooner you start planning the better. This will give you time to talk with your advisor and think about the classes you will need to take while abroad, apply for scholarships, and let your family know you are going! Staff in the study abroad office are happy to help you with the process.
  2. Apply for a study abroad program. You will need to apply directly to the program and also submit the SMU paperwork. There are opportunities to spend a few weeks, a semester, academic year, or summer break abroad through one of many approved Saint Martin's study abroad program.
  3. Discover the experience of study abroad. Once everything is in place you can hop a plane and attend the university you have selected. You will go to class, make new friends, and learn more than you thought imaginable. Should you need a helping hand along the way, all of our programs have friendly staff waiting to help you in the country you choose.
  4. Return and share. After your time abroad, your credits will transfer back to your Saint Martin's transcript. You may also have a newfound perspective in classes, insight to share with those around you, an amazing addition to your resume and some great stories to share!
