Friday, February 20th at 4:00 p.m., Harned Hall 110
The speakers will be Susan Leyster and Nicholas
Kucharik, the Director and Assistant Director of Campus Ministry at
Saint Martin’s University, and Alicia LeDuc, an SMU senior majoring in
Business. Their lecture will focus on two ways the Saint Martin’s
community has been active with local community service programs: Saint
Benedict’s Community Dinner, and The Community Kitchen (formerly known
as Bread & Roses).
Leyster started as a student at Saint Martin’s
University in 1988, receiving her BA in Religious Studies and her MA in
Counseling Psychology. She became the Director of Campus Ministry in
1997. Kucharik graduated from Saint Martin’s in May of 2007 with a BA in
Religious Studies. After working as a student in campus ministry and
doing his internship there, he became the Assistant Director of Campus
Ministry and Campus Minister in Residence. LeDuc, a Saint Martin’s
senior, has been volunteering at Bread & Roses soup kitchen for the last
three years, as well as being a member of HANDS of Campus Ministry (a
community service club), founder of the Global Citizens Brigade, and
working with Habitat for Humanity and the AIDS Walk. She also currently
serves with AmeriCorps as a Peer Mentor.
