Kogan's expertise is in criminology and sociology of law.  He is particularly interest in the conflict between justice and experience within the system of criminal justice.  His research interests focus on juries and on race and gender issues.

Dr. Hauhart spent twenty years working in the criminal justice system in Pennsylvania, New York and the District of Columbia. Since leaving the District of Columbia in 2001 he has taught at the University of Maine, the University of New Mexico, Pacific Lutheran University, and Saint Martin’s University. Dr. Hauhart’s interests include the intersection of law, economy, and society; prisons and prisoners’ rights law; and non-legal initiatives for social justice.
