Friday, November 21, 2003

Lacey - A contingent of Saint Martin’s students participated in “Economics Beyond the Textbook and Classroom,” a student forum on the relevance of economics in the real world, Nov. 6 and 7 in Tacoma.

The forum, sponsored by Washington State University, Puyallup, and the Russell Investment Group, was designed for students planning careers as economists and for those interested in such business and government jobs as financial analysts, trade specialists, real estate brokers, urban or regional planners and other economics-related areas.

The two-day event included presentations by economists, business professionals and government analysts. Among them was Saint Martin’s faculty member Riley Moore, who teaches courses in economics and finance.

Students also had an opportunity to talk with some of the leading economists and financial analysts in the region and nation. Held in tandem with the Northwest Economic Outlook Symposium, the forum also gives undergraduates an opportunity to be at the Northwest’s only annual conference of economic forecasters.
