Saint Martin's students schedule fundraisers for Katrina Service Trip
Feb. 14, 2006
Lacey, Wash. – Saint Martin’s students are planning
two fundraising events to support an upcoming service trip to help
victims of Hurricane Katrina. From May 14-21, a group of 17 Saint
Martin’s students plan to build houses with Habitat for Humanity in
Birmingham, Ala. While they will be staying in a volunteer center, they
need to earn money to defray other trip expenses. The group will have a
car wash Sunday, Feb. 19, outside the university’s Worthington Center,
5300 Pacific Ave. S.E. The car wash is from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and costs
$5 or a donation. From 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 19, the students will add
to their travel kitty with a pancake breakfast, also outside Worthington
Center. Along with pancakes, they’ll be serving sausage and juice. Cost
is $5 or a donation. For information about either event, please contact
Susan Leyster, director of Saint Martin’s Campus Ministry, (360)
