Democratic party chairman Howard Dean to talk with Saint Martin's
students

Lacey, Wash. – Democratic National Committee
Chairman and former presidential hopeful Howard Dean will meet with
members of the Saint Martin’s University Democratic Donkey Club and
other young Democrats from 4:15 to 5:15 Monday, Feb. 20. The meeting, at
the university’s Student Union Building, will precede his appearance at
the Washington State Democrats’ annual Crab Feed at Saint Martin’s
Pavilion. Dean served as governor of Vermont from 1991 to 2003, and in
that role, headed the National Governors Association in 1994-1995. The
2004 presidential election’s early Democratic frontrunner, he was famed
both for his use of grassroots fundraising and the internet as campaign
tools. He lost his bid for the Democratic nomination to Massachusetts
Sen. John Kerry, and in 2005, was elected in 2005 as chairman of the
Democratic National Committee. Dean is expected to urge students of to
get involved in the country’s political process. His talk with young
Democrats is being sponsored by the club and College Democrats of
America.
