Attorney and initiative expert to analyze state
ballot measures
Shawn Newman to appear on TVW’s “Inside Olympia” program

Lacey, Washington – Shawn Newman, Saint Martin’s
University Professor in Business Law, will discuss three statewide
ballot measures on Washington State’s Public Affairs Television program,
“Inside Olympia.” The program will be hosted by Associated Press state
political correspondent David Ammons and will air locally at 7:00 and
11:00 p.m. on Friday, October 13, 2006.
Mr. Newman, a public interest lawyer and Washington
State Director for the Initiative and Referendum Institute, will be one
of three panelists discussing the three initiative measures facing
Washington State voters this fall. The three measures concern estate
taxes, government regulation of private property and energy resource use
by electric utilities.
In addition to his positions with Saint Martin’s
University, Mr. Newman maintains a private law practice representing
various individuals, for-profit and non-profit organizations and
businesses. He is a graduate of Notre Dame Law School and Ohio State
University.
